I’m back! It’s been awhile but I’m happy to return to WAYO FM 104.3 for a substitute shift. I’m channeling Mark Harmon in Summer School and giving you some fresh tunes and silly talk. Enjoy! How strange must it be to be Nick Cave? I caught him and The Bad Seeds in Toronto this week and was blown away. Such a performer. Amazing band. What a voice. Almost as enjoyable as the show was the people watching. Like David Bowie, Nick Cave’s fan are a loyal bunch of ‘oddbods’. Here’s a fan showing a tattoo of a young Nick Cave to the actual Nick Cave after a show (photo Instagram officialpleasekillme): In the Winter of 2013, Los Angeles artist Lauren Bon brought her photography exhibit Silver and Water to the George Eastman Museum. She and her fellow Metabolic Studios companions were treated to a narrated tour of Rochester by the beloved WNY artist, Rick Hock. Fortunately, Josh White documented the journey with his camera. Driving Around Rochester With Rick is a short documentary about our home town. Eggwork Productions is proud to announce the Festival Premiere of Driving Around Rochester With Rick by filmmaker Matthew Ehlers. The film will be a part of the One Take Film Festival‘s Short Films, Long Lunch program on Friday May 19, 2017 at 12:00 PM at The Little Theater. From the One Take Film Festival Website: “Celebrating the best short non-fiction films from WNY filmmakers Grab and go lunches from Orange Glory Catering will be available for purchase at the Little Concession stand for a delicious mess-free lunch you can eat while you watch!” This documentary checks a lot of boxes for me. I love 1970’s era media, especially amateur video. Especially relevant for today now that everyone carries a video camera in their pocket. Find all the Easter Eggs you can in this episode of Eggwork Radio with a healthy ham hock of NYC 70’s Rock and eclectic slop. Plus a tribute to public access TV with the late Glenn O’Brien’s TV Party and Rochester’s own Portable Channel.
